Scott has been farming his entire life on this farm. He first started when it was a dairy farm with his dad and uncle, and now farms it with his daughter, Kristin and her family. He has turned Ricochet Farms into what it is today. Scott loves seeing the calves run around the pasture in the summer. Even though farming takes up most of his time, Scott enjoys hunting and fishing during his time off, and visiting with his kids and grandkids.
Tracy works off the farm at a company doing accounting, and also does personal taxes on the side. Tracy stays really busy most of the year, but enjoys riding her horses in her spare time, traveling, and spending time with her grandkids.
Scott and Tracy enjoy the outdoors together and with their eight grandchildren. The grandkids keep them on their toes as much as possible, and love the farming life, dirt, bugs, and anything else that keeps them dirty!
Dexter found his true love of farming in college. He enjoys the outcome of his calves in the spring. It takes months of research to figure out to whom each cow should be bred to in the summer. There is nothing more satisfying as when a cow produces an excellent calf that you selected. Outside of farming, Dexter stays pretty busy with his kids. He's always taking them to explore outside or swimming in the summer. After harvesting, Dexter is usually found deer hunting or watching football.
Kristin stays pretty busy most of the year. Her number one task is taking care of her four boys, so everyone else can be safe farming. She also helps with the month to month bookkeeping, parts running, meals in the fields, online meat sales and marketing crops. Her favorite time of farming is calving season. There is nothing more heart warming than watching her kids welcome every new calf as their own. When not farming or wrangling the kids, Kristin enjoys being outside and playing volleyball.
We keep our lives very busy with our four sweet boys.
Jace really enjoys going to school, playing in the snow, swimming, soccer and basketball. He is such a kind hearted soul that allows him to become friends with everyone. His favorite part of farming is anything he gets to do with his dad. If he had to pick, though, he really loves all the babies that are born in the spring.
Beau is my sweet and lovable son with a mouth like his mother. At school he barely talks, but when he gets home, he can talk your ear off. He never sugar coats anything, and tells you exactly how he feels. Beau loves doing anything outdoors- swimming, deer hunting, playing in the mud, sledding, snowmobiling. His favorite part of farming is harvest time, especially riding in the combine. I think in a couple of years, he will know how to run the equipment better than me.
Clay is still very small, but don't let that fool you. He is a daredevil of a kid, and nothing seems to slow him down. His favorite part of farming is riding in any type of machinery. Even when he is at home, he is playing tractors all over the floor. I can't wait to see what he grows to love this year.
Kolt was just born at the beginning of 2023. He is still too small to know anything about farming, yet. I am sure if you give him a year, he will be trying to keep up with his brothers and getting into as much trouble as he can.
Jacob is so much more than our hired hand, he is family! I won't say much about him because he likes to keep stuff to himself, but Jacob is worth talking about. He first started working for us when we had the dairy, and even milked on the day we sold them. Jacob continued to work for us throughout high school, until he decided to join the marines. Not only are we so proud of Jacob for serving our country, but we are extremely proud of everything he has accomplished. Jacob is a great person to have in our family. His hard work, dedication, and the love he gives to Jace, Beau, Clay and Kolt is amazing. We couldn't ask for a better person. (Don't worry, on my Facebook page, you will get to see more of Jacob)
