Ricochet Farms has changed names throughout the years, but has always had the same dedication, hard work, and love. Each generation adding their own uniqueness to it. Before 2013, Ricochet Farms was a hard working dairy farm; milking 120 cows in a double parlor. We also raised steers for market and our own replacement heifers. Ricochet Farms took pride in the cattle we produced, with many of our cows being exceptional milking cows. However, dairy farming was a lot of work, it was hard to find reliable help, and it was taking a toll on everyone's health.
In 2013, Ricochet Farms sold their dairy herd, and bought a couple beef cows. It was a whole new experience!
Even more important than our cattle we raise, is our FAMILY! Farming is a family tradition, with Ricochet Farms being ran with 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The 5th generation is along for the experience and the dirt!
The farm is ran by Scott & Tracy Walter and Dexter & Kristin Mann. Along with Dexter & Kristin's four boys, who take on a whole new meaning of "boss" at the old ages of 8, 5, 2 & 1.
Since 2013, Ricochet Farms now raises 200 cow/calf pairs, roughly 200 steers, around 30-50 of our own replacement heifers, and feed out 15-20 hogs. We run roughly 1,300 acres of corn, cover crops, alfalfa, and soybeans. It's always fun to learn something new while farming.
